NRDC Virtual Town Hall: Defending Our Oceans and Marine Life

Covering more than 70 percent of the planet, our oceans sustain life on Earth. They are rich with marine life, feed billions of people, influence weather patterns, and provide a living for millions around the world. They also play a critical role in fighting climate change, absorbing vast amounts of carbon pollution and excess heat from the atmosphere. But our seas are under threat: They’re overfished, exploited for oil and gas, choked with noise, and warming rapidly.

Join Director of Marine Mammals Michael Jasny, Director of Ocean Energy Taryn Kiekow Heimer, and Director of Marine Protected Areas Alison Chase on July 22nd to learn how NRDC is taking action to protect our oceans and marine life. They will spotlight the growing threats facing our oceans, including the expansion of offshore drilling , attacks on endangered species protections by the Trump-appointed “God Squad,” efforts to recklessly accelerate destructive deep-sea mining, and other actions that put industry profits ahead of marine ecosystems and coastal communities.
