PBS SoCal’s Earth Focus - A Special Screening Event at NHM

Join the Natural History Museum for a special screening of an encore episode of Earth Focus, PBS SoCal’s acclaimed environmental series, featuring a curated selection of content, followed by the award-winning short film, SoCal Snowy Owl. NHM is proud to show two compelling works from PBS SoCal’s Earth Month 2025 line-up that examine California’s evolving relationship with nature and conservation. The event will also include a sneak peek at the upcoming season of Earth Focus.

SoCal Snowy Owl (30 mins) – Premiering at NHM as part of PBS SoCal’s Earth Month 2025 programming slate, this episode tells the remarkable story of a rare Arctic snowy owl’s unexpected arrival in a California neighborhood sparks wonder, unites a community, and highlights the fragile connection between nature and our changing world. This award-winning documentary explores how one bird fostered human connection, inspired conservation awareness, and offered a moment of hope.

Earth Focus: Transforming the LA River (30 mins) – Communities along the 51-mile LA River are reimagining its future while reconciling with its past. From artists in Elysian Valley to Indigenous leaders and local business owners, this episode explores efforts to create a more inclusive, sustainable vision for one of LA’s most iconic waterways.
