ACTION ALERT: Request for Governor's Signature on Water and Climate Bills
Oct. 9 Update: many of these bills have been signed or vetoed by the governor already. Updates are noted in the list below. A more thorough wrap up of the legislative session will be posted to our site in the coming days
We are in the final stages of the California legislative session: BILL SIGNING. Once bills have been passed by both legislative chambers, they officially become law if signed by the Governor. Our LA Chapter has endorsed the water and climate bills listed below. These bills have all passed the legislature and are currently awaiting Governor Newsom’s signature.
Governor Newsom has until October 14 to decide whether to sign or veto each bill. We are asking our LA Chapter members to write to the governor and encourage him to sign these bills. I am a resident and constituent who is deeply concerned about the water crises and impacts of climate change befalling California. I strongly urge and respectfully request that you sign the following bills as Governor in order to establish greater water security, a circular economy fueled by increased renewable energy that produces fewer emissions and less waste, and nature-based climate solutions.
