SoCalGas Makes Us Sick Rally w/Sierra Club

  • Plaza in front of Wells Fargo North Tower 333 South Grand Avenue Los Angeles, CA, 90071 United States (map)

Join us in highlighting So Cal Gas’ misdeeds and calling them out for polluting our communities and sickening our neighbors. We will be rallying in downtown Los Angeles on Thursday, October 22, to mark the 11th anniversary of the Aliso Canyon gas leak, and to point the finger at the corporation that has done more than anyone else to keep our region, and our state, reliant on polluting fossil fuels that pollute our air, harm our climate, and threaten our lives.

The South Coast area has the most polluted air in the country. Over 17 million people live here and are being impacted every day by air pollution caused, in large part, by the use of fossil fuels. From the tragedy at Aliso Canyon, when a gas storage facility leaked huge amounts of natural gas into the Porter Ranch neighborhood, to the climate-driven wildfires that have devastated the region year after year, it is clear that fossil fuels are an existential threat to the health and safety of our community. The fossil fuel industry has been fighting to keep us hooked on their polluting product and opposing common-sense policies to transition to clean renewable energy. One corporation in particular, the monopoly gas utility SoCalGas, has been leading these efforts to undermine public health protections and common-sense consumer safety policies.
