The Resilient Food Systems Committee is back from hiatus with a new Committee Chair, Stephanie Gomez. The committee will next meet on Wednesday, September 16 at 7pm via Google Meet.

Stephanie Gomez is a native Angeleno, nonprofit leader, urban farmer, and community organizer based in the San Fernando Valley. As the cofounder of Shift Our Ways Collective, she has spent the past six and a half years supporting community-centered efforts to build more equitable food systems. With 10 years of experience in the nonprofit sector,  Stephanie brings a background in program development, community engagement, partnerships, policy and digital storytelling to her role as Chair of Climate Reality Los Angeles’ Resilient Food Systems Committee.

The focus of the committee: Building resilient food systems is essential to addressing the climate crisis. From urban farms and community gardens to sustainable agriculture and reduced food waste, we have the power to transform how we grow, distribute, and consume food in Los Angeles and beyond. By strengthening local food networks, we can reduce our carbon footprint, improve food security, and create healthier, more equitable communities. Our committee works to promote solutions that nourish both people and the planet.
