About the speaker: Justin Lowery is an active member of the leadership committees of Climate Reality Riverside County and the Citizen’s Climate Lobby CA-42, Southwest Riverside County chapter. He has a prior background and degree in science education, and has designed and led numerous presentations, classes and workshops in both professional and climate advocacy contexts. Today, he leads workshops, presentations, & meetings on a wide variety of topics for environmentally focused groups all over Southern California and throughout the US, in addition to lobbying congress, helping organize local events, and recruiting new activists. His foray into climate activism work began with a simple conversation with a friend, who helped him connect the dots on lifestyle and environmental impacts. This led to an educational journey that involved countless books, films, podcasts, lectures, events, conferences & seminars. Part of this journey involved the decision to go vegan and overhaul his lifestyle to be more simple, sustainable and ethical, and to help as many others as possible do so as well. The need to scale change to national and global levels led him to join and train with Citizens Climate Lobby, Climate Reality Project, The Sierra Club, and a local group affiliated with The Nature Conservancy. He is also a certified trained member of the Climate Reality Project Leadership Corps.
