Hello Bootcampers!
THANK YOU for joining the Speaker Training Bootcamp (November 7 & 21). This page gives you a range of tools you can access to help you build your first short presentation, which you’ll give in the session on November 21.
You can review guidelines for preparing your 8 Minute Presentation by CLICKING HERE. Any other questions about the June 27 “makeup” session can be sent to Matt Almos at mattalmos@gmail.com.
Here’s some answers to technical questions that you might have as you prepare your own 8 minute presentation for the June 6 session of the Bootcamp.
How do I download the various versions of the Climate Reality Presentation deck?
If you have completed the Climate Reality Leadership Corps Training (with former Vice President Al Gore), you can access many versions of the presentation deck through Climate Reality Project’s Reality Hub. You’ll find links to many different versions of the deck on this page, including the deck that was presented in the most recent Leadership Corps Training. (There’s lots of other great resources to be found on this page, so feel free to explore.)
If you have NOT completed the Climate Reality Leadership Corps Training (with former Vice President Al Gore), you will not have access to Reality Hub. Instead, you can access the Truth In Ten presentation deck (a shorter version of Mr. Gore’s presentation) by visiting this page. Scroll down to the bottom and enter the information requested. Then click the button that says “SUBMIT”. You will then be taken to a page that says “THANK YOU FOR DOWNLOADING TRUTH IN 10”. At the bottom of the page are a wide range of links that allow you to download the deck in different formats and languages.
Which version of the Climate Reality Presentation deck should I use to build my short presentation?
It’s up to you, but for those who are new to creating and giving presentations, we recommend that you use the Short or Truth In Ten presentation as your base. (Here’s a video of Al Gore delivering a slightly older version of Truth in 10.)
Can I add my own slides?
Absolutely! Here’s some short videos that show you how to do that in Keynote and Powerpoint. (And if you’re more comfortable working only with the slides in the Climate Reality deck, that’s fine too.)
Are there other videos out there with tips on how to use Keynote and Powerpoint?
You bet. Here’s one for Keynote and here’s one for Powerpoint, but feel free to keep exploring Google and YouTube for others! For those who have access to Reality Hub, you’ll find other great resources on this page.
How do I share my screen in Zoom?
Matt made a short video with different techniques for sharing Keynote presentations on Zoom
Here’s another short video that shows you the basics of sharing a Keynote presentation in Zoom. And here’s one for Powerpoint. Remember that you can host your own free zoom meeting to practice this. Depending on your set up, you may need to have your notes on paper, or on a separate screen while you present.
Can I get a copy of some of the slides that were shared in Part 1 of the Bootcamp?
Sure. You can also view videos of the May 23 session of the Bootcamp by visiting these links: Part 1 & Part 2. Here’s a couple other resources:
“Customizing the Presentation” (developed by Wei-Tai Kwok)
“Guidelines for Shaping Your Personal Climate Story” (developed by Steve Levin)
“How to add a YouTube video to your Climate Presentation” (video that Matt Almos made on 6/2/21).
What if I still need help?
Don’t hesitate to email Bootcamp host Matt Almos (mattalmos@gmail.com). He’ll be happy to provide whatever assistance he can!
Can I view a video of Bootcamp?
