An Update on Our Native Street Trees Project

Francis Pl. In Palms (Los Angeles)

Last April, LA Climate Reality partnered with the Palms Neighborhood Council and other partners to launch a pilot project to plant native tree species that have not been traditionally used as street trees.

Volunteers have been watering the trees on a regular basis to help them become successfully established. Nevertheless, a few failed to flourish.

This February 21st, LA Climate Reality’s Chapter Chair Charles Miller hosted a Native Tree Replacement and Walk-around Event. During the event, native trees that didn't make it were replaced, all remaining trees were inspected and cared for, including restaking, and Charles provided an educational tour of all trees that had been planted.

Additionally, some participants revisited the now-
