Stream the interview below.

For our January meeting we were joined by Los Angeles-based Evan I. Schwartz, an award-winning author, screenwriter, and editor.

In his conversation with LA Climate Reality's Charles Miller, Schwartz talks about his transition from tech reporter to climate storyteller after being inspired by Al Gore’s presentation at the 2006 TED Conference. This lead to Saved by the Sun, his first environmental documentary, being released a year later on PBS. Most recently he published The Kelp Comeback, an article about the return of underwater forests to the coast of California and how it’ll benefit the planet.

Evan I. Schwartz is a storyteller who focuses on bringing attention to climate impacts.

Schwartz discusses the concept of the hero’s journey and how it should be applied to climate journalism to share compelling victories and positive solutions to help move away from climate nihilism. He also addresses key strategies that climate champions need to integrate into their message moving forward that will aid in their efforts.
