Stream the interview below.

Our April chapter call featured a discussion with Joanne D'Antonio, founder of the Trees Committee for the Los Angeles Neighborhood Council Sustainability Alliance (LANCSA) and Chair of the Community Forest Advisory Committee (CFAC). In the call, Joanne talks about her efforts to steer the city’s tree trimming practices by using the best urban forestry and environmental science.

In her discussion with LA Climate Reality Chapter Chair Charles Miller, D'Antonio mentions how a disagreement with Urban Forestry’s decision to trim two trees on her property started her on an unexpected path to tree advocacy. Combining her sales and leadership background, D'Antonio figured it out piece by piece, ultimately becoming one of LA’s leading urban forestry advocates.

Urban canopy plays a vital role in residents’ lives as it provides shade, offsets heat and pollution, and mitigates flooding. Trees also play a vital part protecting our region's biodiversity.
