Join the Food Committee in its mission to advocate for sustainable and regenerative food and agriculture solutions in our local food shed and beyond. Current/past projects include giving presentations to LAUSD students, building partnerships, joining coalitions like Regenerate America, promoting plant-forward menu options in restaurants, and much more. There are many opportunities to be involved, and all are welcome.
The Climate Curricula & Youth Action Committee meets the second Saturday of the month at 2pm.
The committee is focused on bringing climate literacy education and environmental justice to all subjects and grade levels in the Los Angeles Unified School District. The committee was successful in passing a climate literacy resolution with the LAUSD school board in February of 2022. With the passing of the resolution, over a half-a-million students, 30,000 teachers and over 1000 K-12 schools will be reached. Please join the committee’s work of implementing the resolution and building youth leadership in the Climate Reality Project.

Assembly Constitutional Amendment (ACA) 16, authored and introduced by Assemblymember Isaac Bryan seeks to ensure that “The people shall have a right to clean air and water, and a healthy environment.” Passing this language in the Constitution will strengthen existing laws, provide equal protection and secure rights for our most vulnerable communities and ensure environmental rights are not infringed upon by future legislation.
Asm. Bryan (55th District) will discuss the importance of this bold legislation and how we can all advocate for its passage.

“Third Act Dirty Bank Stalwarts” and their partners, the “350.org SFC Beautiful Activists,” are protesting the financing of new Fossil Fuel development at CitiBank in Tarzana on May 11, from 11 am – 1 pm Third Act SoCal is part of a coalition of 200 environmental organizations across the country (under the umbrella of Stop the Money Pipeline) that are participating in "Summer of Heat" events to persuade Citibank to stop funding fossil fuel projects. Since 2016, Citi has provided more than $332 billion in financing to polluting fossil fuel companies, threatening our homes, our jobs, and our lives. Join then at the CitiBank located at 19255 Ventura Blvd. (at the corner of Tampa), Tarzana, CA 91356 on Saturday, May 11, from 11 am – 1 pm to march, chant, and tell CitiBank to stop funding planetary destruction! Picket signs, rocking chairs and leaflets will be provided.

We will be doing an inventory of all the waste, led by our Biodiversity Committee.

From May 7-18, join climate leaders from around the globe for 2 networking sessions and a multi-day virtual event that will prepare you for creating and implementing climate action plans within your business and/or organization.
The Climate Boot Camp is an interactive, solutions-driven virtual program specifically built for climate leaders like you and designed by The Climate Reality Project and Harvard Alumni for the Climate and Environment (HACE).
The Marketing & Communications Committee manages the website, newsletter, and social media accounts for the chapter.
We have a very small group and welcome new and returning volunteers to help generate ideas, increase our capacity, and share the workload. Experienced marketing and creatives folks are welcome, but no experience is necessary.
The site in West L.A. is officially open from 10am-3pm in case you are unable to make it that early.
Also known as the Gabrieleno Tongva Springs. This is a sacred site that supported and continues to support the thriving Tongva people.
The site welcomes visitors and volunteers on the first Saturday of each month to see and sustain this sacred space. Please join fellow members of the L.A. Chapter and L.A. community in accepting this gracious invitation and actively engage in the maintenance and upkeep of this beautiful indigenous space. Volunteers are generally asked to assist in gardening and landscaping initiatives, so bring your own gloves and gardening tools if you can.

Please join Elders Climate Action’s SoCal Chapter at the April 29 court hearing downtown L.A. of the 18 brave young people involved with the Genesis vs. EPA case, being represented by “Our Children's Trust” non-profit public interest law firm. They’ll all be wearing wear blue and/or green to show their solidarity in supporting these brave young Californians as they demand legal protection of their constitutional rights to a safe climate for all present and future generations.
Please note seating may be limited depending on capacity of the courtroom. So, plan to arrive at the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California at 10:00 am to welcome the plaintiffs as they arrive at the courthouse and secure a seat!

Our next chapter meeting will feature a Climate Movers & Shakers interview with Bill McKibben. McKibben is equally well known for his writing on environmental subjects and his climate activism.
Bill McKibben is a founder of international climate organization 350.org. After leaving 350.org, McKibben founded Third Act, an organization for Americans over 60 fighting to safeguard the climate and democracy. McKibben is the author of more than a dozen books, a staff writer at the New Yorker. He now also writes on his own substack, The Crucial Years.
Our Children's Trust is gathering strategic allies across California and beyond to discuss the importance of amplifying and elevating youth voices fighting to secure their right to a livable future. Young people are experiencing and witnessing the devastating impacts of the climate crisis, so it is imperative for the climate community to support youth climate leaders.
Join this workshop to hear from the team supporting and representing the constitutional climate lawsuit Genesis B. v. United States Environmental Protection Agency. Our Children’s Trust will be leading a letter-writing campaign to support other youth-led initiatives addressing environmental decision-making.
The workshop is hybrid so that folks in Los Angeles can meet in-person or participate online. Location available upon registration.
The NextGen Climate Summit is specifically for high school and college students who live or go to school in Santa Monica. The event is sponsored by Sustainable Works and the City of Santa Monica.

The City of Beverly Hills will be celebrating its 21st Annual Earth Day event at their Farmer's market on Sunday, April 28th from 9 am to 1 pm. This year's theme is "planet vs. plastics."
