March 2024 Chapter Event @ The Westwood Greenway

Date & Time: March 24, 10am

Location: Westwood Neighborhood Greenway (2596 Westwood Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90064)

On March 24, 2024, the Los Angeles Climate Reality Project held a quarterly in-person chapter meeting in partnership with the San Fernando Valley chapter.

The Westwood Greenway is an oasis of habitat restoration in the middle of urban West Los Angeles. Through many years of community organizing, local residents were able to prevent this plot of land adjacent to the Metro Expo line from becoming a parking lot. Maintained by volunteers, the green space is now filled with native plants, providing a habitat for birds, butterflies, and other animals.

For the second year, our Chapter Chair, Charles Miller, who is on the Westwood Greenway board, gave a tour of the Greenway to Climate Reality members. This time we were also joined by members of the San Fernando Valley chapter.

We combined the tour with our monthly chapter meeting, and then some members got their hands dirty helping to maintain the site under the supervision of Westwood Greenway guides.
